Local Craft Tours | Discover Seattle Craft Distilleries

Local Craft Tours | Discover Seattle Craft Distilleries

It wasn’t very long ago that going on a distillery tour in Seattle wasn’t even possible. A law passed in 2008 finally allowed craft distilleries to open up tasting rooms and sell their liquor. Since that time, distilleries have been popping up all over Washington. This new and growing industry brings a lot of curiosity, which is where Local Craft Tours come into play. As the premier distilling tour in Seattle, Local Craft Tours is not just a great way to taste your way through the city but also a fun way to learn about the growing craft distillery industry in Seattle. Local Craft Tours offers a few different distillery tours (and they all sound like a blast), but I recently went on the Speakeasy Distillery Tour. This two and a half hour tour starts in downtown Seattle with stops at three different distilleries. On our tour, we visited Sound Spirits Distillery, Fremont Mischief and Letterpress Distilling. Depending on when you go on the Speakeasy Distillery Tour, you may...

It’s A Date! | Take A Walk Around Fremont

It’s A Date! | Take A Walk Around Fremont

There are several unique neighborhoods in Seattle, but none or more original than Fremont (the self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe”). It’s sadly one of the neighborhoods Tove and I visit the least, but we’re out to change that. That’s why we recently took to the streets for a fun walk around Fremont, and it quickly revealed itself as a great date idea. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen…it’s the latest installment of It’s a Date! Tove and I started our walk around Fremont with a stop at Fremont Coffee Company (459 N. 36th St.). Located in what seems to be an old house, Fremont Coffee Co. makes some of the best “bean juice” (that’s what our barista called it when we were there) we’ve tried in Seattle, and it’s a great place to begin your date. It’s a quiet atmosphere with multiple rooms, so you can sit and chat or take your coffee on the road. NOTE: Keep your eyes peeled for the free ‘Walking Guide to Fremont’ maps. You...

Paseo | The Best Sandwich in Seattle

Paseo | The Best Sandwich in Seattle

They say good things come in small packages. Well, the same can be said about the best sandwich in Seattle. One of the best sandwich shops in the city is located in a small building in Fremont (it almost looks like a glorified food truck). It’s easy to miss, but trust me, you want to try Paseo as soon as you can. NOTE: Since we originally wrote this post, Paseo was shut down in late 2014 and reopened with new ownership in 2015. Members of the family that originally owned Paseo started a new restaurant in June 2015 named Un Bien. I was first introduced to Paseo a couple of years ago. I wrapped up a rowing workout with some coworkers and they wanted to grab lunch afterward. One of the guys suggested Paseo, but the other three of us had never even heard of it. My coworker quickly explained they “have the best sandwich in Seattle,” so we jumped on the idea. You can literally smell Paseo (4225...
